The Law of The Pendulum Pt.2

Text: Judges 16:4-6 Date: Sunday 23rd October 2022

We previously spoke about the fact that Samson’s Achilles heel was women,
as evident from these verses. Judges 14:1-2, 16:1 and verse 4 of our text.
My eyes caught a verse in Judges 14:4 which should make us all understand
about the ways and sovereignty of God, it says “But his father and his mother
knew not that it was of the Lord that He sought an occasion against the
Philistines, for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel”.

This is a startling verse, because Samson should have known better than to
allow himself to fall for one of the daughters of the Philistines, his parents
were obviously right when they asked him “Is there not a woman among the
daughters of thy brethren…?” (14:3).

But when the entice of one of the daughters of the Philistines or Delilah has
you within their grip, it is no longer a matter of what is right or wrong, it now
becomes a matter of the fulfilment of the gratification of the flesh.

Samson would eventually pay the ultimate of price, but before his demise,
God would use his weakness as a bate to ensnare and destroy the enemies of
His people.

This goes against the grain, but God is sovereign and in the arena of men, He
is the one who raises up and takes down who He will.
After the conquest of the land under the leadership of Joshua the Philistines made inroads into Israel’s territory, God allowed this in order to discipline
and humble His people, Israel.

The devil may have made inroads into your life and there is a pattern of things which you thought you had overcome reoccurring; the pendulum keeps on repeating itself.

It is time for the pendulum to come to an abrupt end, it is time to experience victory over the same thing or things which has overcome and destroyed other family members and friends.

We must repent and ask God to forgive us of past and present sins, He is our merciful and loving Lord and in His name, we will overcome the pendulums of failure and defeat.
